Tyrell Dorn entered his plea on Monday, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said in a statement. Prosecutors recommend that Dorn receive a seven-year state prison term when he’s sentenced next month.
Dorn was charged in November 2019 after the shooting death of Micah Tennant during a high school football game, Tyner said.
The shooting left a 27-year-old man and two children wounded, Tyner said. Tennant was shot in the neck and died five days later, he said.
Dorn and three other suspects fled the football field after the shooting. As police tried to pull over their vehicle, Dorn threw a handgun out of the driver’s side window, Tyner said.
The suspected gunman -- Alvin Wyatt, of Atlantic City -- was captured after the shooting on the football field by a Pleasantville police officer working security during the game. Wyatt has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.
